Finding our Authentic Voice Featured
Life is an opportunity to continually learn and expand our skills in what ever we are passionate about.
I have been teaching some form of movement arts for over 10 years, and I recently started another Yoga Teacher Training based in Anusara. I love the philosophy and principles of Anusara and at the same time taking the training stirred up my foundation as a teacher.
When I came back to teach in my studio, I felt unsure about how to teach, it was as though I was a beginner again. I had learned so many new things that I was asked to implement into my teaching and I felt under pressure to change myself and how I authentically lead a class.
I had to take time to connect with myself, my body, my movement and remember why I am here as a teacher. We all have our own paths as teachers and it is our duty to find our authentic voice in how we guide others.
I am here to create, to inspire and to offer new pathways for people to get out of the heads and into their bodies. I love learning new ways to teach, giving me more tools to collect for my tool belt and infuse into my own teaching.
Before I taught today, I let go of everything I have learned.....I emptied out and trusted I would find my true authentic voice, and in doing so my Bamboo Yoga class flowed with grace, I felt completly present and in tune with my students and the environment for the first time since doing my yoga teacher training.
These kind of ripple effects after a training are normal....it takes time to integrate, absorb, and fine tune, as we weave new information into our own teaching using our own voice.
As I prepare to co-lead my first yoga teacher training in March, I feel these questions, doubts and reconfiguring of my own teaching were perfect reflections for me, bringing me even stronger into my authentic voice as a faciliator.
It is vital as teachers to know our own beliefs, philosophies and what inspires us as we move through the world as inspiration for others.

I would love to hear your voices, comments, experiences on this subject!
