Your retreat would not be complete without some adventure! We have included one half day tour in our Five Night and Seven Night packages. We can also help arrange any of the below tours for you either as part of a package or by itself.
Half Day Tours
Horseback Riding to Nauyaca Waterfall
Time: 8 a.m - 1:30 p.m
This horseback tour is over a 12 kilometer route with three resting periods. It departs from the paved road and arrives about one hour later at Don Lulo's house, where you will have a delicious typical Costa Rican breakfast. After breakfast and observing animals in the family's mini-zoo, the ride continues on for 25 minutes until arriving at the waterfalls. You may swim in the beautiful natural pools the waterfalls have formed. On the way back we stop once again at "Don Lulo's house" to enjoy a delicious typical Costa Rican lunch. After a well-earned rest on the hammocks and a delicious cup of coffee, we begin the return trip to our starting point.
Canopy Tour at National Wildlife Refuge
Times: 8 - 11 a.m or 11 - 2 p.m or 2 - 5 p.m.
This tour imitates the flight of the chestnut - mandibled toucan, as it leaps off a branch, swoops down through the forest and then up in to another tree. On this 2-3 hour tour, 8 separate cable rides take you from one ridge top to another, across valleys and streams. There are 14 land-based platforms and 1 tree platform with a view of the coast. You will have 2 guides on this tour one of whom speaks fluent English. This is a great way to see and learn about the forest and have lots of fun at the same time. Limit 12 participants.
Surf Lessons
Timing: 2 hour Session in conjunction with the tides.
In Playa Dominical the water temperature is around 82 degrees year round. This beach is known for its consistent break, a great spot for surf year-round. Instructors will show you the basics of reading the ocean, how to stand up properly, and how to ride the wave. They know where all the secret spots are, and take you where it's going to be best each day, at the right time of day. It is required that all participants have some basic swimming abilities.
Full Day Tours
Paragliding Tandem Tours and Courses
After an easy take off involving a few steps down a gentle slope, you will be treated to a spectacular view of the unique scenery of Costa Rica as you soar above the canopy with your tandem guide and eventually land on the beach.
Whitewater Rafting
Time: 8 a.m. - 2 p.m .
The Savegre River is one of the most pristine rivers in Costa Rica. It is the perfect river for families and young kids. During the descent you will have the chance to enjoy the canyons, waterfalls, and tropical scenery. Along the river we will stop to enjoy the waterfalls and have lunch.
Drive to put in 1 hour. Drive from take out 40 min.

Requirements: Ages 8 and over. Participants must know how to swim, have the abilities to walk in slippery or unstable places and paddle. ** Requires a minimum of 4 people.
Kayaking in Mangroves
Trip duration is approximately 4 hours.
Come and explore with us one of the most important mangroves of Central America located on the Terraba-Sierpe River. You will discover the beauty of its canals and enjoy the great variety of flora and fauna that this estuary offers. Along the way you will have the opportunity to find six different types of mangrove trees and learn the importance of their ecosystem
Ocean Kayaking
Trip duration is approximately 4 hours. Minimum 4 people.
A paddle along the coast of Costa Ballena provides the chance to enjoy the beautiful scenery and unique natural formations that make these beaches extraordinary. Along the way you will have the chance to take in the lush green that surrounds the coast as well explore rock formations in shape of arches. We will stop at Playa Ventanas (Windows Beach) for some snacks and try to do some kayak surfing. Ventanas is surrounded by tunnels in the cliffs that look like impressive windows in the surrounding landscape- hence the beach’s name.
Snorkel Tour to Caño Island
Time: 7 a.m - 3 or 4 p.m
Isla del Caño has been a protected reserve since 1976. It is 805 acres and 10 square miles of its surrounding waters is home to hundreds of different reef fish. Underwater you may see manta, devil, eagle and southern sting rays, turtles, and white tip reef sharks. This full day tour, 8 hours, includes lunch and is limited to 12 passengers. Certified guests are able to scuba dive for an additional fee of $60.
Canyoning Tour
From Base Camp it's a 5 min. walk to the top of the canyon where you will receive thorough safety instructions before starting your adventure. When you reach the first waterfall (which is 5 meters, or 15 feet high) you will be taught the fundamentals and proper techniques of rappelling. Then you are on your way – with 5 more waterfalls to go! The largest of the falls is 25 meters, or 75 feet! The canyon ends at the Uvita River where there are some pristine swimming holes to relax and reflect. Then the Canyon Cruzer will pick you up and take you back to the Costa Canyoning Base Camp where you will receive a happy landing snack and drink. Includes a CD of all the photos taken during the tour.
Hiking at Corcovado
Time: 7 a.m - 4 p.m
Famous for being–the Amazon of Costa Rica—the Corcovado National Park is the largest stronghold of primary forest on a Pacific coastline, and is famous for being “the most biologically intense place on Earth”. Be prepared for a thrilling tour as you explore some of Mother Natures most amazing works of art. The area holds thousands of species of flora and fauna, many unique to the area and others which have disappeared from other regions, or are in danger of extinction. Approximately, 6,000 insects (including the 123 different butterflies discovered so far), 500 trees (a fourth of all the tree species that exist in Costa Rica), 367 birds, 140 mammals, 117 amphibian and reptiles, and 40 freshwater fish species live here in coexistence. The Corcovado National Park Full Day Nature Tour departs from Punta Uvita at 7:00 AM and arrives approximately 1 ½ hours later at San Pedrillo Ranger Station in the Corcovado National Park. Upon arrival you will prepare for two guided nature tour hikes along two different trails and observe beautiful flora and fauna. Each hike takes around 2 hours. During the hikes you will be able to see many mammals such as spider, howler, and white-faced monkeys, sloths, coatis, raccoons, and tapirs as well as a great variety of birds, plants, and trees with over one hundred years of existence and in danger of extinction. After the first hike, we serve a picnic lunch near the San Pedrillo ranger station and then we begin the second trek. During boat transit from Punta Uvita to Corcovado National Park you may observe whales, dolphins, turtles, marine birds and fantastic views of the southern pacific Osa coastline. The boat returns from Corcovado and arrives to Punta Uvita at 4:00 p.m.
